EQWIP HUBS: POWERING SUSTAINABLE YOUTH LIVELIHOODS
CWY is proud to be recruiting Canadian Volunteers for its new program EQWIP HUBs: Powering Sustainable Youth Livelihoods. The project is powered by the strategic alliance of Canada World Youth and Youth Challenge International (YCI). As two of Canada’s foremost organizations focused on youth development, we bring 70+ years of youth engagement and transformational learning.
A five-year initiative will look at the different elements that can have a positive influence on youth livelihoods, particularly young women. Through hubs located in urban and semiurban centres, the project will allow to offer employability and entrepreneurship training that is responsive to local realities. At the same time, it will foster collaboration among local governments, the private sector and civil society to leverage local resources and create more opportunities for youth. Please visit the EQWIP HUBs website for more information and to apply.
The Youth Leaders in Action program ended in March 2015. We are indeed proud of its impact. It has changed the lives of people around the world, many of whom are now in leadership positions across the globe and are bringing positive change to their communities.
The Youth Leaders in Action program is a unique 6-month program for youth between the ages of 17 to 25. This reciprocal program is divided into 2 phases of 2-3 months, one in Canada and one overseas, where youth from Canada and the partner country take part in both of those phases. During the program, the youth volunteers contribute to community-driven development projects which focus on health, the environment or gender equity, live in host families and take part in youth-led educational activities. A short, 6-week, version of this program is also offered.
The Global Learner program aims to promote global citizenship through the direct participation of youth in community-driven development projects. The program provides youth groups or individual participants aged 15 and over with a rich educational experience of 2 weeks to 3 months through volunteer work placements, host family living, educational activities and critical reflection.
Programs for Indigenous Youth aim to strengthen and support the capacity of Indigenous youth to be leaders and discover other cultures by participating in local, national and international volunteer programs. All CWY programs are open to First Nations, Métis and Inuit youth. We also specifically offer programs for Indigenous youth, including some programs that include the possibility to live and work with Indigenous communities in other countries, with the support of our international partners.
The CWY Leadership Awards recognize the outstanding achievements of young Canadians and youth from around the world who are engaged in initiatives that promote sustainable development at the local or international level
