Sustainable Livelihoods Alumni Group

In June 2012, a group of Canada World Youth alumni represented the organization in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil at the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, as well as the parallel People’s Summit. Prior to attending, the group consulted Canadians in several cities across the nation in collaboration with WE CANada to see what Canadians wanted out of the international conference.

The group monitored and advocated for several topics and later led webinars on the various topics discussed at the international conferences. These webinars are available below and cover: fisheries and oceans, fresh water and sanitation, corporate responsibility and Indigenous, women and farmers’ interests.

The group works with the current CWY youth volunteers to further engage them and show them how they can work with CWY on issues of health, the environment and equity in their communities.
