Canada World Youth is on Tour
MONTREAL, Q.C. (July 22, 2014) – Canada World Youth (CWY) invites you to join the President and CEO Rita S. Karakas at the Inuit Circumpolar Conference in Inuvik to finish off the CWY youth and alumni outreach tour.
Canada World Youth concludes its western tour in Inuvik on July 25, 2014 at the Inuit Circumpolar Conference. Aboriginal youth make up over 20% of Canada World Youth participants in international programs and the largest group is the Inuit. Over the last few years 138 Inuit youth have been engaged in CWY programs. In fact, this week a group of 10 Inuit youth from Labrador are travelling to Tanzania for a month to work with children as part of a Canada World Youth project.
“We are excited to participate in the Inuit Circumpolar Conference,” said Ms. Karakas. “We wanted to include our youth and alumni outreach tour at the Inuit Circumpolar gathering in Inuvik because of many of our host families and participants.”
Ms. Karakas also stated, “It’s not just about Inuit youth, it is also about the hosting families who have contributed their time and hospitality. We are humbled by their support and we thought it would be appropriate to attend this conference and participate in the local cultural celebrations.”
