Tyler Colbourne, former CWY field staff, recipient of Governor General’s Caring Canadian Award.
Congratulations to Tyler Colbourne on being awarded the Governor General’s Caring Canadian Award. This award celebrates the efforts of great volunteers who contribute to the growth of our society and selflessly offer their help and empathy.
Tyler began his involvement with Canada World Youth (CWY) as a volunteer on the Quebec-Burkina Faso/Mali exchange project from May 2003 to December 2004. During the program, Tyler volunteered in St-Anselme, Quebec and in Yako, Burkina Faso (West Africa).
An avid photographer, Tyler has provided his services voluntarily to CWY on many occasions, especially during an Alumni tour in Eastern Canada in 2009. In addition to ongoing volunteer engagement with the organization, Tyler served as a CWY Project Supervisor from June 2012 and April 2014 on three different youth volunteer programs.
Since that time, Tyler has been an active alumni volunteer, staying engaged with CWY by coordinating host families for the CWY youth volunteer program, and thus helping tremendously with the transition of our Canadians and overseas youth volunteers in the community. He has also been active in his community, supporting local youth volunteer projects by providing guidance and leadership as a resource person.
Tyler hopes to continue being an engaged citizen, and adding many more years to his current 15 years of volunteering experience.
