Canada World Youth receives funding for four Québec sans frontières projects

MONTREAL, June 13, 2013Canada World Youth (CWY) is pleased to have received confirmation from the Quebec Government that the four Québec sans frontières projects submitted by the organization have been approved for funding.

The four projects will take place during the year 2014 in Benin, Senegal, Burkina Faso and Vanuatu, and will focus on food security, micro-finance, nutrition and IT respectively.

″We are grateful for the strong support of the Quebec Government and its commitment to international cooperation, which is at the heart of our organization’s mission, said CWY’s President and CEO, Rita S. Karakas. The Quebec sans frontières program offers informal training opportunities through a rewarding and intensive experience. Whether at work, at home, in the community or within the group, the youth who participate acquire numerous skills and develop invaluable tools.″

Through all its programs and initiatives, CWY seeks to create a space for youth as facilitators, commentators, advisors, teachers, students and leaders. The incredible learning experiences offered through its various programs also provide youth with the support and skills necessary to be leaders. In 2012-13, CWY offered international leadership projects to 543 youth volunteers from across the country.

″Given the opportunity and the skills needed through programs like Québec sans frontières, youth take on positive leadership roles in our communities and inspire other youth to do the same. ″
