Message from the President and C.E.O. – International Development Week
On behalf of the Board of Directors and the staff of Canada World Youth (CWY), I would like to emphasize the importance of our young Canadian volunteers’ international development achievements in their call to action to support and advance the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development which includes 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to end poverty, fight inequality and injustice, and tackle climate change by 2030. The new agenda is transformative, bringing together social, economic, and environmental sustainable development highly relevant for all countries around the world. But success depends on young people working together across cultural divides, challenging the status quo and promoting a fair and just society. A special thank you to our EQWIP HUBs volunteers for their dedication and commitment in transforming the economic trajectory of youth, especially women, around the world.
I would also like to take this opportunity to inform you that Global Affairs Canada announced this week that Canada World Youth (CWY) will receive funding for the International Aboriginal Youth Internship (IAYI) initiative. CWY has sent 2 cohorts of IAYI interns overseas since 2015 and we are very excited to be again offering this transformative experience to indigenous youth.
On this International Development Week, thank you for engaging youth around the world.
