International Aboriginal Youth Internships – 34 Indigenous interns arrive in Peru and Colombia!

Canada World Youth is sending overseas its 4th cohort of interns as part of the Pathways to Indigenous Youth Leadership Program – International Aboriginal Youth Internships (IAYI), thanks to the generous funding by the Government of Canada through Global Affairs Canada.

Through participation in overseas development projects in Peru and Columbia, and access to training and mentorship, the interns will increase their capacity to address international development issues overseas and in their own communities while exploring educational and employment opportunities.

The 34 Indigenous interns from coast-to-coast-to-coast have completed their week-long pre-departure camp in Ottawa and arrivied in Peru and Colombia yesterday! Furthermore, on their first day in Peru, the interns met with Indigenous Congress Woman Tania Pariona Tarqui in her office at the National Congress in Lima. Be sure to follow us on Facebook as they will be sharing with us their experiences throughout their internships.
